Star Wars Kenner Vintage Collection Boba Fett Prototype Armor Mail Away Exclusive Figure

Star Wars Kenner Vintage Collection Boba Fett Prototype Armor Figure Review

In 2010, the Kenner line briefly came out of retirement when Hasbro introduced The Vintage Collection line. The white Boba Fett prototype figure made its appearance in the form of an exclusive mail away figure in 2011. The figure is packaged in an unpunched blister pack and comes in a sleek and simple white box direct from Hasbro, complete with an inner L-shaped cardboard tray to provide additional protection.

The front of the card features a freeze frame image from the original 1978 screen test featuring Duwayne Dunham inside Boba Fett’s white armor, while another behind-the-scenes color image can be found on the back. The Star Wars Kenner Vintage Collection Boba Fett Prototype Armor figure itself is based on a repaint of the 2004 Vintage Original Trilogy Collection Boba Fett. As a result, some key differences stand out between the figure and what appears in the original screen test, most notably the presence of Wookiee braids, the absence of grappling hooks in the rocket, and wrist weapon details. The cape also does not depict the original Star Wars beach towel, and instead is mostly plain white with some simple star markings. Features include a non-removable helmet with tilting range finder, a removable non-firing jetpack, prototype rifle and sidearm, a screen test-inspired belt, and ball-jointed head, shoulders, elbows, waist, knees, and even ankles.

Star Wars Kenner Vintage Collection Boba Fett Prototype Armor Figure Specifications

This limited edition figure depicts the first costume ever produced for Boba Fett. The all-white armor reflects the character’s initial concept as a “super trooper” before he evolved into the bounty hunter he is today. This prototype design was unveiled on June 28, 1978 in a screen test shot and is being worn by the assistant film editor for The Empire Strikes Back. In the 20-minute screen test, the sound designer describes the myriad weapons and features on this armored uniform for George Lucas and the Star Wars crew. For the first time ever, we have created this special action figure to commemorate the birth of this favorite character from the Star Wars saga.
